FAQs

Do you accept insurance?

I do not bill insurance or participate in insurance plans, including Medicare. Most insurance covers illness, not the preventive and wellness‑focused services offered at Center U.

  • Lab work may be partially covered by your insurance, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.

  • Medical records can be provided upon request, but we do not communicate directly with insurance companies.

  • Compounded medications are generally not covered by insurance.

  • Center U is designed to give you personalized, wellness‑driven care without third‑party interference.

What are compounded medications, and are they safe?

Compounded medications are custom prescriptions prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. They are tailored to your individual needs, such as a specific dosage, combination of medications, or delivery form that may not be available in standard, commercially manufactured products.

Are they safe?

  • When prepared by reputable, state‑licensed compounding pharmacies, compounded medications are considered safe for appropriate use under medical supervision.

  • They are made using high‑quality ingredients and must follow strict compounding standards and regulations.

  • Compounded medications are not FDA‑approved as a final product, because they are made specifically for you, but the ingredients used are typically FDA‑approved.

    Why we use them:
Compounded medications allow for a cost-effective personalized approach, making it possible to provide treatments that are not otherwise available in commercial forms or to avoid unwanted fillers or allergens.

What makes your weight loss programs different?

Unlike conventional programs that focus mainly on medication, my root‑cause approach combines functional medicine, fitness expertise, and personalized education to address the underlying factors behind weight struggles. I equip you with the tools and sustainable strategies to lose weight, keep it off, and enjoy the process, far beyond quick fixes.

Additionally, men and women experience weight loss differently, and most programs treat everyone the same. My programs are designed specifically for women, targeting the unique hormonal, metabolic, and lifestyle factors that impact female weight loss, making the approach more effective and personalized.

I want to start GLP‑1 medication, but I’m afraid of side effects or looking unhealthy.

Standard GLP‑1 dosing can be very effective, but it often causes rapid weight loss, muscle loss, and micronutrient deficiencies, with uncomfortable side effects that can lead to stopping treatment early.

At Center U, I use microdosing for all GLP‑1 medications because it:

  • Minimizes side effects while producing results

  • Promotes gradual, sustainable weight loss

  • Preserves muscle and lean body composition

  • Helps prevent nutrient deficiencies with targeted support

  • Is often more cost‑effective than full‑dose protocols

This approach keeps you healthy, strong, and confident while achieving lasting results.

What functional labs do you use and why?

We use a combination of conventional and advanced functional testing to uncover the real reasons your metabolism isn’t responding. Standard labs often look “normal,” yet symptoms persist. Functional labs reveal what’s optimal.

Examples include:

  • Comprehensive metabolic & hormone panels: thyroid, cortisol, insulin, estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA

  • Inflammation & nutrient markers: CRP, ferritin, vitamin D, B12, magnesium, zinc

  • Glucose & insulin mapping: detects early metabolic dysfunction

Optional Advanced Functional Testing helps us personalize even further:

  • 🦠 GI Microbiome Testing – Evaluates gut balance, digestion, and inflammation to restore metabolic efficiency.

  • 🧬 Nutrigenomic Testing – Uses your DNA to design nutrition, fitness, and supplement plans that align with your biology.

  • 😰 Salivary Cortisol Testing – Maps your daily stress rhythm to reveal how cortisol is slowing recovery and fat loss.

  • 🍽️ Food Sensitivity Testing – Identifies hidden triggers driving inflammation, cravings, and weight resistance.

Why it matters: These insights remove guesswork, so instead of fighting your body, we work with it to accelerate results, protect energy, and create sustainable weight loss.

What are nutraceuticals, and how do they help with weight loss?

Nutraceuticals are medical-grade supplements used to correct metabolic, hormonal, or nutrient imbalances identified through your labs.
They can help:

  • Balance blood sugar and insulin response

  • Reduce inflammation and oxidative stress

  • Support thyroid and adrenal recovery

  • Enhance mitochondrial energy and muscle preservation

Examples include berberine or dihydroberberine, inositol, adaptogens, omega-3s, and targeted micronutrients. Every protocol is evidence-based and personalized—never one-size-fits-all.

Do I have to exercise to succeed in your programs?

You don’t need to spend hours in the gym, but movement is non-negotiable for lasting results. We design efficient, strength-based workouts (usually 3 sessions at minimum per week) tailored to your schedule and hormone profile.

The goal isn’t to “burn calories”, it’s to retrain your metabolism, protect lean muscle, and restore hormonal balance. If you’re a beginner or have limitations, we start small and scale strategically.

Can I join your programs if I live out of state?

Y
es—with one note:

  • Medical weight-loss programs are available only to clients in Virginia, Arizona, Nevada, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Colorado, and Montana.

If you live elsewhere, you can still join our Physique and Strength Coaching Program, which includes customized training, nutrition guidance, and accountability without medical prescriptions.
*At this time, testosterone therapy is offered only to Virginia residents.

How fast will I lose weight?

Most clients notice visible body-composition and energy shifts within 4–8 weeks, followed by consistent progress of 1–2 lbs of fat loss per week. Because we focus on metabolic repair, results compound over time. We don’t chase “quick fixes.” We build a body that performs. Steady, sustainable, and strong, long after the program ends.
